Summary of" Generation Plagiarism"

            In the article “Generation Plagiarism”, which was written by Sarah Wilensky for the Indiana Daily Student in 2010; the author argues that the increase in plagiarism among the newer generation of students is related to the growing increase of technology. The author claims that the growing access to other authors work via the internet is tempting more students to steal other peoples work without giving the original authors credit, but also at the same time it makes it much easier to detect plagiarism. To further back her argument, Wilensky used an example in the first paragraph about a young student that was nominated for an award but was also accused of plagiarism. Wilensky further mentions the students defense for the act was that the students’ generation uses old and new media to create something new; hence why the author calls this recent generation of student the “copy and paste” generation.

            In my view, I praise the author for pointing out how plagiarism is growing rampant in today’s society. On a daily basis from normal students to big wig politician steal other peoples work and speeches on a daily basis; then refuse credit them or find a poor excuse to warrant their behavior. With the internet so vast now compare to 20 years ago, it’s like no one can think for themselves anymore without a search engine. So in conclusion, I am in full agreement with the author; stealing is stealing no matter the excuse. When referencing someone else’s work, it’s always important to give credit where it is due.

Entry Blog Post!

Yay, my first blog post! I still need to catch up seen I started College Composition 2 weeks late L; but never the lest, the show must go on. I finished my first draft for my narrative reflective essay. I had many challenges coming up with ways to write my essay. At first I wanted to make it as a story relating to my college life but my imagination has gone very dry over the years; so I didn’t feel comfortable writing a story. I also do feel comfortable sharing my life with others; but I found a way to make everything come together.

I decided on writing my essay as a letter to my mother about college life. I felt like I would be able write a strong essay by expressing myself more and be more personal addressing someone I trust rather than coming up with a boring story. I was able convey my feelings without sugar coating anything or switching characters; the original plan for my story. Well, I submitted in, so hopefully I will be worth reading.
